The whole lot knew the intel on Iraq was false. Should be criminal what they did (trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of human lives WASTED), but politics being what it is (most all of Congress signed off on it) no one will be held accountable.

Not true. In the House:

R’s 215 for, 6 against, 2 not voting
D’s 81 for, 126 against, 1 not voting

Senate:

R’s 48 for, 1 against
D’s and 1 independent 29 for, 21 against

Total congresspeople:

R’s 263 for (97.4%), 7 against (2.6%)
D’s (and I) 110 for (42.8%), 147 against (57.2%)

To compare, the vote to declare war on Japan in 1941 was 470 to 1. The vote to declare war on Germany was 481 to zero. Even the Gulf of Tonkin resolution passed 504 to 2.

There was clearly a full-court press toward the Iraq War by the Bush administration, but even in this impossible post-9/11 environment, the clear majority of Dems saw it for the disaster it was, and that shouldn’t be forgotten.

Thank you for correcting me pdq, not sure how I was so off. Still, with nearly half of the Democrats signing off on it, and almost all of the Republicans, that probably explains enough of a lack of political will to hold anyone accountable? Otherwise I’ll cam they have gotten it so wrong and no one was made responsible?

It's not the kind of accountability that amounted to justice, but the Republicans got absolutely creamed in the House of Representatives in the 2006 mid-term election. I think that the war in Iraq played a significant role in that.
