I need a pre-paid cell phone plan for South Korea
#1
I travel there in 2 weeks, I will be there for a week. Work provides a cell phone with data and voice, but the phone is severely locked, I cannot install Apps. Lats time I was there I put the work phone in hot spot mode and used my personal iPhone to search maps, translate, etc.

I would like to avoid the hot spot hassle (it keeps disconnecting) and have my own cell plan. ideally I would leave my Comcast SIM in my iPhone and use an eSIM for Korea.

Thanks

I use Flexiroam as my default for international travel and personal data.

I have not used them since the pandemic started, but it's been good for China, Hong Kong and Japan.

great choice. $8 for 500 MB and 8 day is probably perfect. even if I run out of data before 8 day, I assume i can reload the same plan before the 8 day expire to get more data.

Do you also get a local number to make/receive calls? Thanks

I always assumed local calls were a hit-and-miss proposition. I set up a google voice to use for international calls.

Get it when you are there, the deals will undoubtedly be better than you'll get here.

In my past bench-marking, the Flexiroam rates were not a huge premium over on-site data prices. Their prices for Japan were particularly competitive, as I recall.

And you can pay ahead of time and literally switch SIM 'cards' during the flight, turn your phone off airplane-mode, and be ready to roll.
