[Forbidden Questions Series] Did anyone upgrade to Windows 11?
#1
Just saw an email about Windows 11 in my inbox. Did anyone try it?

I have a Windows 10 PC. Kids use it for games. I may try it.

I'm not sure. I have a cMP 3.1 dual quad 3.0 I might put W10 and W11 on bootcamp loaded to different drives so they are self contained. I have W 10 on a HP ProBook i3 laptop and it runs OK.

Is that the word we're using? "Upgrade"?

Windows 11 seems to be a downgrade for two reasons:
1. Gaming performance reduced 25% compared to Windows 10.
2. Requires an 8th generation Intel CPU or newer to be fully supported. Although it can be installed on older computers - Intel says it will be unsupported and won't receive any updates. Why anyone would install a new operating system that can't receive critical security updates is confusing.

FYI Windows 10 is fully supported until 2025

Nope. I probably won't since my laptop is 3 years old and I typically replace them after 3-4 years and they get wonky. Mine hasn't irritated me enough (yet!) to replace.

They JUST updated my wife's work laptop to Windows TEN.

Work is all 10, most recent boot camp install is 10.

Now that the performance numbers here indicate 11 can be a hog, will stick to 10 until there’s a compelling reason to change.

Upgraded my PC from Windows 10 to 11. This is my home built gaming system. Not mission critical.

I like it so far.
