The combo of Amazon's refurbs and 4-year $140 full warranty is hidden gem

Have done this a few times: purchasing a refurbed Mac on Amazon and adding either the $90 2-year or $140 4-year full warranty from Asurion.

Asurion's warranty and followup behavior is almost too good to be believed. Any problems at all and they send you a free shipping label to ship the device to them to check it out. If they can't fix it, they refund 100% of the original price.

I've done this also with a few quirky electronic things, such as the fully-automated espresso machines that are always (always) problematic. They just fully refunded a unit I purchased 2 years ago.

Anyway, a good option to consider if you're looking for a Mac that is slightly used/open box and a good deal.

I mean that sounds like a good deal, you get to use some hardware until it fails and you're compensated the cost... minus the Asurion warranty cost so $140 for a MacBook for 4 years is a pretty good deal.
