As remakes go, this one might not be too terrible...

... just caught a teaser for it on PlutoTV, and was curious enough to look for an extended trailer:

... I thought this trailer was MUCH better than the short teaser clip that I'd seen on Pluto.

As a big fan both of the book and the 1984 version, I was pretty grossed out when I saw they'd cast Zac Efron (???) as Andy McGee in this remake ... but he's seemingly actually not terrible, judging from the trailer. I also notice that they recast Cap Hollister as a woman (with Gloria Reuben as the actress; she's an excellent actress but I'm not sure right for the role), looks like they got Kurtwood Smith as Dr. Wanless, and finally, they cast a Native American actor as Rainbird (the casting of George C. Scott as Rainbird in the original was completely off the mark!). I'm not at all familiar with the young actress in the lead role, but she looks to be not bad, again at least not terrible.

Sorry, I would have thought that'd have been obvious from the discussion of the characters, the fact that it was a 1984 movie, casting, etc. True that it was a blind link, but not to anything particularly offensive. Big Grin

Edit: a John Carpenter score ??? Wow, just wow. The 1984 film had a soundtrack from Tangerine Dream that was really excellent, so I'll be curious to see what Carpenter does with this.

Not necessary, since it's already been named twice!

When I posted, it was only said ONCE (as verified by find in page) and it wasn't stated as fact. Seemed like a guess.

Never saw the original, so character descriptions are totally lost.
