Today's shooting
#1
near Orlando -- so far three dead.

A man shot a woman this morning, then later that afternoon returned to the scene and opened fire on a news crew and bystanders. One reporter from Spectrum News was killed and a nine-year-old girl died while her mother is in critical condition.

The 19-year-old suspect has been taken into custody and has been reported to have an extensive police record.

extensive police record and guns don't mix.

WHY ARE REPUBLICANS OPPOSED TO BACKGROUND CHECKS?

Sorry for shouting. I can't take it anymore.

Better a hundred killers walk free than one legal gun owner be inconvenienced at his next purchase.

Fox News story on this has passed 9,000 racist hate-filled comments...many boasting how 'well armed' they are.

Pretty soon we'll have threads titled "This morning's shooting" or "today's lunchtime shooting."

GMT? I was thinking about this last year when there were regularly more than one per day. It needs some sort of universal time code for when there is a morning shooting on the left coast and an afternoon shooting at the same time on the right coast.

Haven't heard of any proposed laws against background checks.
Of course anyone over the age of 12 can just go to a gun show and buy an AR-15 and 50 round magazine. Not really, need to be 18 and pass background check.

Who said anything about proposed laws against background checks. However in many GOP controlled states the background checks are next to non-existent. Or they have exemptions, or clauses that limit the time period for the check to happen and just the buyer can have the gun if the background check doesn't come back within a short number of hours. And most of these states still exempt private sales.

Where did you hear that background checks are a joke? Non-existent? It's done for every gun purchase. If the check does not deny the purchaser after 3 days (business days) then the sale is approved. They typically come back in 10 minutes
