Cybertruck stuck in the snow, rescued by a lowly Ford

the internet laughs hysterically

After a Tesla Cybertruck struggled to climb a snowy off-road hill in California’s Stanislaus National Forest — documented in a video that went viral this week — Forest Service workers decided to spin the incident to their favor.

In a quippy press release, which called the company’s new stainless steel offering an “immediately recognizable vehicle,” Forest Service staff offered to partner with Tesla on “an education campaign” for off-road vehicle use on public lands. They sent the message to Tesla’s press email, Stanislaus National Forest spokesperson Benjamin Cossel told SFGATE, but haven’t gotten a response. Tesla CEO Elon Musk infamously dissolved Tesla’s public relations department in 2020.

In the video, a Cybertruck, laden with a single Christmas tree, spins its wheels on a snowy slope as a Ford truck slowly wrenches the futuristic car uphill. Tesla has been advertising the new vehicle as “durable and rugged enough to go anywhere,” and “built for any planet.”

I saw that video yesterday. In all fairness, that truck was a release candidate. It doesn’t look like the truck was in low gear considering the amount of wheel spin. Does the truck have a low gear?

“You never have to worry about a software update at an incredibly awkward moment with one of our MVUM maps,” Forest Supervisor Jason Kuiken said in the release.

Release candidate vehicle without rescue points installed, with non-functioning AWD software, on street tires, off-road where it shouldn’t have been. Clearly the driver wasn’t versed in off-roading.

The Cybertruck was going up a steep icy/snowy hill while the Ford was on flat ground. It seems like the Ford could have been spinning it's wheels too if the trucks were switched.

He clearly has AWD, but anyone with sense wouldn't try to drive where he is. Maybe he'd make it with chains, but still...mostly driver error.

Plus, if you're really "4-wheeling", people just get stuck, and the non-stuck people pull them out, and then you keep going. But I wouldn't call that real "4-wheeling". He's just out there being a jack-butt.

Looks like the Ford is winching the Tesla.

No the ford truck has a yellow tow strap . Not a winch . The forest service should have pulled the Tesla the other way . The slope of the hill was better .

I don't think anyone well versed in off-roading would ever be caught dead in one of those.
