So it's official - no living former Presidents or VPs are supporting Trump
#1
Pence made it official - he is not supporting Trump for prez. This is only news because Pence couldn't bring himself to say ANYTHING bad about Trump - ever. Not that he finally has - wow! (not really)

but what a situation

only 4 of his 44 cabinet officials are supporting him.

Damn! I forgot about Dan Quayle - who hasn't. He hasn't stated a position, but I'd be stunned if he was supporting Trump.

And every Trump supporter in the country has their fingers plugged in their ears, singing “na-na-na-na-boo-boo, I can’t hear you.” The entire Republican Party is in Kindergarten.

Dan Quayle will live on as one of the two top picks of George H.W. Bush...him and Clarence Thomas.

Quayle, unlike Thomas, was willing to put country before party when he advised Pence to certify the vote.

POLITICS SEPT. 14, 2021
The Vice-President Who Saved Democracy on January 6 Was … Dan Quayle?

Quayle was adamant, according to the authors. “Mike, you have no flexibility on this. None. Zero. Forget it. Put it away,” he said.

But Pence pressed him, the authors write, asking if there were any grounds to pause the certification because of ongoing legal challenges. Quayle was unmoved, and Pence ultimately agreed, according to the book.

I'm still happy that Sarah Palen's opinion doesn't count, and never will.

But he's still being supported by "dead presidents" sent from his base.

Not in my mind, because:

Quayle, unlike Thomas, was willing to put country before party when he advised Pence to certify the vote.

In my mind, he's a Republican who helped save Democracy on 6 JAN because:

Quayle was adamant, according to the authors. “Mike, you have no flexibility on this. None. Zero. Forget it. Put it away,” he said.

But Pence pressed him, the authors write, asking if there were any grounds to pause the certification because of ongoing legal challenges. Quayle was unmoved, and Pence ultimately agreed, according to the book.

In my mind, he'll live on as someone who won't get the credit he deserves for that contribution, like a few other Republicans who spoke or acted against the grain of the GOP.

Unfortunately, that will probably be because of two sound bite-level incidents — not knowing how to spell potato, and not being Jack Kennedy.
