Did E. Jean Carroll get any penny from CFDT?

What is the latest here? is the appeal still pending? can they proceed with the appeal while CFDt is president or everything is on hold for the next 4 years?

It is still on appeal, he has posted a $90 million bond but that is held until the appeals court rules. Since this is an appeal, the case should move forward. What could derail it is if the court orders a new trial. Then everything would likely wait until he is out of office.

however they can find for the defendant and order him to pay the full amount, they could also reduce the award and order it paid. In either of those outcomes, Trump will file an appeal to the NY Superior Court and the wait continues. Of course, the verdict could be set aside and the case dismissed.

It feels like the presumption at this point is that he's getting away with everything and the people voted for him to be able to do so.

Have faith, people, the cavalry that's been coming to save us from Trump for the last 8 years is just over the hill, I can hear it.

It's an observation that he's getting away with everything at this point.

It's a presumption that it will continue until the Teflon is squeaky shed of liability.

I presume that presumption will become an observation.

I am sure you're being sarcastic or humorous, but with the rhetoric emanating from the right, it doesn't seem impossible the way it once ought to have.

As a private citizen with no credible ties to terrorist organizations like Hamas or foreign lobbying activities on behalf of autocratic states etc you would have to hope this would be a bridge to far for anyone asked to bring her to Gitmo or anywhere else on trumped up charges.

Yeah, the cavalry may be just over the hill, but they're going to face modern warfare: drones, missiles, airforce, lasers, electronic warfare. Not sure how they're gong to save us.

Here's the thing that gets me. If the precedent is that a sitting President can't be charged with a crime, then what if the President commits a truly obvious, verifiable crime while in office? Does he just get away with it scot free? (I'm assuming he doesn't have the sense to resign, which at least Nixon did.)

If so, then this guy could truly shoot someone on 5th Ave and not only would people still vote for him, but he'd be the one person in the country immune to prosecution for murder.

One set of rules for thee, but not for me, indeed.
