....starting today, July 8th......this is in addition to already 50% off on Wednesday....
.....this replaces the $5 Tuesday ticket (which was the better deal).....
AMC Theatres to Offer 50% Off Tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
.....AMC Theatres, the world’s largest cinema chain, is slashing ticket prices on the slowest days of the week for moviegoing.
Beginning on July 8, AMC will offer 50% off movie tickets on Tuesdays, in addition to the previously announced 50% off Wednesdays, for those part of the AMC Stubs rewards program. This replaces AMC’s prior discount Tuesday deal, which offered $5 tickets for Stubs members. In addition to half-priced admission, AMC is discounting its small popcorn and drink combination on those days.
Online ticketing fees and extra charges for premium large formats such as Imax and 3D will still apply, and certain movies or holidays may be excluded, the company said. AMC has reported that 36 million people are members of the Stubs program, which is free to join for the lowest tier.
Though cinemas are usually loath to make any major changes to ticket prices, many of the nation’s multiplexes have long offered a deep discount on Tuesdays, which has in turn become one of the most popular times of the week for moviegoing. Surveys have suggested that people are cost-conscious about the price of tickets. And since the box office remains down 25% from 2019, the last pre-pandemic year, AMC is extending the deals in the hopes of keeping auditoriums booked and busy midweek rather than just on the weekends.
AMC has tried all kinds of things to stay afloat as the movie theater industry has been battered by the pandemic and the dual Hollywood labor strikes as well as the rise in popularity of streaming services. In a bid to increase revenue without raising ticket prices, AMC’s CEO Adam Aron recently announced the chain would show more advertisements before movies in addition to traditional trailers. AMC also invested in a Nevada-based gold and silver mining company, started selling popcorn in shopping malls and launched a branded credit card.
Aron described the new discount plan as part of AMC’s “continued effort” to offer a better value for budget-conscious moviegoers.
“Following the overwhelmingly positive guest response to our announcement of 50% Off Wednesday ticket pricing, two things became clear,” says Aron, who has a tendency to speak in outlines. “First, our Discount Tuesday program will benefit from clear, concise messaging that resonates with value-seeking moviegoers. So, we are changing our Tuesday prices and our Tuesday consumer communications such that Tuesdays and Wednesdays will both feature the same 50% off pricing offer.”
Aron continues, “And second — those moviegoers are also seeking value on concessions. While moviegoers are not required to purchase any food or drink to take advantage of the ticket price discounts, there is an opportunity to add incremental snack purchase revenues for AMC on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.” ........
.............another 50% off day..........?!
