How to clone just the system folder?
#1
I have installed a new internal HD and want to make it the startup disk. Look slike CCC clones the entire disk but all I need is the system on the second drive.

CCC gives you the option to just clone certain files also

Yeah but is system only the System folder or all over the place? Another oddity is that CCC doesn't let me pick indiviudal users just the entire Users folder.

Merely cloning the system folder would not give you a bootable drive.

OS X is a lot more complex than OS 9.

If all you that want is a basic OS install, do a clean install from your install discs.

I have used CCC to clone OS X to a second internal drive - as a back-up and a system to 'experiment' with.

I think it was hear that I learned about CCC. It worked for a second internal drive - just the system + a small selected group of apps I could choose. The 2nd drive boots just fine.

I was told 'SuperDuper' is far better - but it costs like $30 and CCC is free.
