12" or 15"?

Which Mac laptop would you rather lug around on a trip?

I've always bought 15"ers. 12" are lighter, but I'd rather lug around an extra lb. for the screen real estate.

I love my 12" PB. At home I plug in an external 20" monitor - extended mode. On the road, I just zoom a little for better viewing.

By 12", do you mean the discontinued 12" Powerbook or the current 13.3" Macbook?

Well, just how much would it be lugged around? Personally, I use my PB at home much more than I do when traveling, so I've always gotten the bigger screen. Sure, it's a little less convenient when you do travel, but, for me, traveling represents a very small percentage of its use. If it's the only computer, then Mr. Ed's solution is very good - small for travel and a big external at home.

So far, no one mentions the giant 17". A friend owns one and hates it having to carry it on a business trip.

S/O has a 12" powerbook; I have my 15" MBP. Before the latter came into our lives we always took the former with us on trips. I still think the 12" is much more convenient due to its size.

Used a 12" iBook for the past few years. It usually lived on the arm of the couch. Replaced it with a 15 PB G4 recently and I'm in the market for another 12". Nuff said.

Very happy with my MacBook Pro 15". I lug it all over the place, holidays, family visits, MUG meetings, walks around the city. Never thought it was too big to carry and I have a nice soft case for it with no extra pockets or handles to make it bigger.

I do have the 17", but that wasn't one of the options you mentioned, and I was just trying to stay on topic! Like I said, I don't travel often, so I don't mind lugging around the 17", but I sure do love having it at home.
