I am just trying to get over my third since Christmas. I hate to complain here, but why not. For a few days I was too sick to do anything much less complain. ;-)
I did go to the doctor on the second day I thought I had it (soonest i could get an appt). I got a breathing treatment, shot of antibiotics and chest and head xrays. Also some amoxicillin/pot clav to take for 10 days. I ran 102 fever for 4 days but the doctor did not seem concerned. That was my temp in the exam also.
I have never had such a hard time with sinus and bronchitis in succession. I have been well for 4 days since Christmas.
I am doing the saline solution mist, any other suggestions?

Zinc, vitamins, eccinecea and fluids. I just got over mine a week ago. Finally gave up on the Amox after it was keeping me awake at night. It's the rapid weather changes this winter that did it to a lot of people IMHO.
Vitamins - C sup and B complex
Eccinecea - herb that promotes immune system health
Feel better!

I am doing the vitamin c with juices. I just have not been hungry at all. I have to force myself to eat so I can take the meds.

I'm getting some sort of a bronchial thing now. Everyone I work with has some sort of a cold.

I completely forgot to post a followup after my last experience -- that was the "I think I'm coming down with one..." post. The result was that I apparently avoided getting it!
All that I did:
1) Take a decent (not overdose) amount of vitamin C, preferably in lozenge form. I like Halls Vit C, citrus flavor (nice Amazon filler, BTW)... not sure how much this contributed, but I figured couldn't hurt.
2) Aspirin and sore throat lozenges for sore throat; decongestant to try to keep the nasal passages open. Curiously, the sore throat lozenges actually seemed to making things a bit worse at one point, so go easy on those.
3) Echinacea/goldenseal capsules: 3 capsules per day (approx 1 gm echinacea, 300 mg goldenseal total/day), preferably at mealtimes. Dunno if these made any difference, but I couldn't see much downside to them (I already had a bottle of it lying around, and it's a bit past the expiration date)... I did notice that this stuff gives you a bit of a bad taste in your mouth/sinuses, so that was actually good in my case because I was getting a bad taste in the mouth/sinuses from the oncoming infection (so one taste sort of competed with the other)
4) Saline nasal spray, but NOT nasal wash-- the nasal wash may have actually aggravated things in my case... seemed that it was around the time that the infection started to come on. I use "Simply Saline" which is ONLY saline (no preservatives, no CFC's). Expensive but worth it, IMHO. (I use this routinely, not just when I feel sinus infections coming on, and in general I've done pretty well for avoiding the infections until recently.)

Tried xylitol nasal spray?

Might help with that bad taste, too, Peter. :-)

Forget the placebos (alternative medicine crap) and get the right antibiotic. Maybe your doc needs to try to culture whatever is eating you.
The law of the jungle still prevails: Eat or be eaten. You, unfortunately, are being eaten.

1000 mg of vitamin C, two to 3 times a day
100 mg of zinc, once in the morning when I wake up, once a little before going to bed
Airborne at least twice a day
eat something when taking these, not a lot, but a little, should help with the absorption.
plenty of fluids
I used to do the above whenever I felt like I might be getting a cold (except the Airborne), and didn't get one for the past 11 years, but this year I've had two so far, but in doing the remedy I stated above, they have hardly even been noticable.
I have a little cough, and I have to blow my nose a bit more than I normally have....

JEBB, the antibiotics work, but they really take a toll on you. Also they typically don't really totally wipe out the infection, only reduce it to levels where your own body can handle it ("log kill"). I figured if I could head the infection off at the pass, better to do so...
