Very tempted to purchase this Woot (http://www.woot.com). Anyone here have one?

I bought a refurb Animal (which I think is very close to the DC14) for about the same price. Worth every single penny. That'll suck your carpets right off of the floor.

How is the Dyson with regard to emptying? I have an old Fantom bagless that is pretty dusty to empty. Also, the screened cylinder in the center accumulates lint and one needs to pick it off.

Thanks

One button release, walk to trash can, another button to release the bottom of the canister, and you are done. You can always pull a trash bag tight around the bottom of the canister depending on how much dust you think is too much. I've never considered it to be a pretty dusty job.

Occasionally I'll have to grab some stuff off of the screen at the top of the canister. But that's usually when I've had to vacuum up a lot of fine bunny hair, or picked up too much of his hay. Cat hair and dust don't seem to be a problem.

It really is a tough beast to clog up. I've only succeeded by vacuuming up too many small bits of hay.

My sister is very cat allergic. She can generally on be in my house for about 15 minutes before her nose is clogged and eyes are red. Once I started using the Dyson, she can be over for hours without a problem.

We have the Dyson Animal model as well, and my wife still loves it (She uses it more than I do) I think ours is about 4 years old.

You can put the bottom of the dust collection bin relatively deep intot he garbage can before dropping the bottom to empty it. That cuts down on extra cleaning.

If your carpets are old you may find that it makes a horrible noise when you try to use it, like something is wrapped around the beater. Just give Dyson support a call and they will walk you through removing a gasket to allow more air flow. It literally can pull up carpet and it lets you know in a hurry if you are vacuuming up anything, like string, that can harm it.

They have very nice support folks.

Have you ever used a Dyson vacuum? Tried it out in a store? I find the Dyson's pretty heavy and cumbersome to push around. After 2-3 rooms i'm exhausted. I find cannister vacuums much more easier to manage.

Just an opinion from someone who's used both types of vacuums.

I have this one:

Works like a champ.

I have tried the Dyson we have at work. I liked it. Carpet at home shouldn't be a big deal as the entire main floor is hardwood. I'm looking for something to vacuum up the dog hair from the hardwood, the stairs and the furniture. Basement is typical thin basement carpet.

I just snagged one. Been thinking about a Dyson for a while. At $400+, it was iffy. At 255 shipped, sure.
