I know, he would mess it up more, but is he even trying?
Is Bush even trying to fix this mess?

First he would have to acknowledge that there is a mess, so I don't see him ever trying to fix it up.

he's too busy celebrating victory

It's better strategy for the Republicans to regain the White House in 2012 or 2016 if Bush leaves an unfixable mess now.

That's what I've been saying for years. It will take a miracle to straighten this mess out in 8 years and if it's not straightened out who do you think will get the blame, not Georgy. ![]() ![]()

From "Reagan Diaries" by Doug Brinkley published by Harper Collins:
'A moment I've been dreading. George brought his n'er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.' ------entry dated May 17, 1986.

You're being unfair with the Reagan remarks. That was before he dried out and quit the cocaine.
Actually, snopes says it didn't happen.

Can't believe the amount of debt that he will leave us. That's going to take a long time to pay off.
