Good site to send to the righties who want to smear Obama.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/f...mearshome/
Example:
Lie 1:
Barack Obama won’t say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lie 2:
Barack Obama won’t put his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance.
Truth:
Watch Barack Lead the Pledge of Allegiance:

Is there a site to send to the lefties who want to smear McCain?
Lie 1:
McCain wants 100 years of war in Iraq.
Truth:
McCain does not want 100 years of war in Iraq. He believes it wise to maintain a presence in a volatile part of the word to ensure peace like we did in Germany, Japan, Korea, etc.
To quote McCain “That would be fine with me, as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed.”
Yet I heard Obama say as recently as last week that McCain wants 100 years of war in Iraq. It wasn't an aide or some blogger, it was Obama himself. He knows damn well that isn't the case yet he continues to say it.
Don't act like the "righties" are the only one spreading smears, it goes both ways.

Why don't you post McCain's full original quote in context then, just to remind us?

Dear Karsen,
In essence, you're right, but is there a specific reason that you didn't admit that McCain absolutely did say "100 years", in terms of how long we might maintain a presence?
I did hear Obama's "100 years" quip-- ever since I've been aware of the misquoting, I've paid closer attention to the way that's used, and Obama absolutely is being careful to =not= say that McCain wants 100 years of war, but that he wants to be in Iraq for 100 years.
Prove me wrong.

In a TV on NBC's "Today" show, McCain was asked whether he could estimate when U.S. troops could leave post-surge Iraq. "No, but that's not too important," McCain said. "What's important is casualties in Iraq. Americans are in South Korea. Americans are in Japan. American troops are in Germany. That's all fine. American casualties, and the ability to withdraw. We will be able to withdraw. ... But the key to it is we don't want any more Americans in harm's way."
When McCain tries to compare an extended deployment in Iraq with the long-term installations in Germany, Japan and S. Korea, he ignores the fact that the latter are accompanied tours, meaning that spouses and children can accompany the active-duty member. This is an entirely different proposition in Iraq, where the possibility of accompanied tours is decades into the future, if ever they will be possible.
McCain is wrapped up in his own private war, his opinions belonging to the "if we'd wanted you to have a wife, we'd have issued you one" era. He clearly has no comprehension of the modern military and absolutely no regard for military families.

Got any more "smears?" This one is pretty weak, and you've misquoted Obama too.

You must have selective hearing.

Really? I didn't misquote anyone.
According to the Washington Times, Obama "said it is 'entirely fair' to say on the campaign trail that Mr. McCain would continue the war for 100 years because the Republican has not clearly defined success in Iraq and has given no criteria for troop withdrawal. 'For him to argue, which he has repeatedly, that any suggestion that we withdraw troops is surrendering, that implies that we will be there as long as he thinks it's necessary for us to be there,' Mr. Obama said."
The "non-partisan group" factcheck.org "says Obama's claim that McCain wants 100 years in Iraq is a serious distortion to the point of rank falsehood. Challenged by reporters today, Obama refused to back down." McCain's campaign claims Obama "has been knowingly twisting McCain's words for as much as three months."
Don't like reading? Here it is right from Obama's mouth, don't tell me he didn't say it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHnVZpA69j0
If that's not enough for you there's more videos of hims saying the "100 years of WAR" all over YouTube.
Here's some more craptastic bullshit from Move On: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agN54i7CiUg
Have a nice day.

I do get a kick out of Obama supporters. I've never seen so much "innoculation" going on in a campaign. "People are going to say bad things about Obama, and you just need to be aware none of it is true." All candidates have always been full of junk, but I think this strategy is fairly new. kj.

I agree with Politifact's assessment: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/388/
Summary: Obama twisted McCain's words. McCain was referring to a peacetime situation, such as with Japan and Germany. Obama wanted to shape it as if we'd be at war that long, "surging" along.
Which we very well might, since Iraq is not 1945 Japan or 1945 Germany. Obama was wrong to frame it how he did, but to worry about his twisting of McCain's words here is missing the forest for the trees.
I really gotta wonder if you guys do your homework before worrying so much about the literal words candidates use.
