Do I have to give back my Apple decals and secret decoder ring? This is my first personal computer purchase that hasn't been a Mac, starting with a Performa 5200 CD.
I finally broke down and ordered an Eee PC. I have wanted a small web-surfing, email checking machine and Apple doesn't have something comparable. I waited and waited and I just didn't see it coming anytime soon. Of course, now that I have bought something else, it will be announced next Tuesday. The touch is too small and the MacBook Air is too large and way too expensive and I don't need an iPhone. I have a MacBook, but it is too large to carry around all the time.
I had a $50 credit from Amazon, thanks to purchasing the Toshiba HD DVD player, so the shipped price was only $249.99. I think even if Apple made something similar, it would not be anywhere near that price point.
I bought the cheapest 2GB Surf model and plan to only run Linux on it. If I need extra storage, I can add a cheap SDHC card. Dell is supposedly coming out with a Linux machine in August that will be similar, maybe better, but I was tired of waiting and the Dell would have been about $75 more with tax and not being able to use my Amazon credit.
My tiny little PC should be here in a week or so, you never know with free Super Saver shipping, and then I will see if this was a good purchase or not. I'm sorry Steve, but it is only a tiny indiscretion.
