Anyone here have a 2 party household?

Just curious how it works out for you? Sleep on the couch, or is it no big deal?

For the first time in our marriage it's possible my wife and I may not be voting for the same Presidential ticket.

My husband and I are both independents, but in the past we have not always voted the same. Most of the time yes, but not always. It has not been a problem.

My reply is identical to rgG's. Exactly.

As Ann Landers once said, if two people agree on everything, one is unnecessary.

My marriage survived in spite of being a two party household for almost 39 years. No, I didn't kill him in 2004; he died of something else. When you know you don't agree on something that's, for all practical purposes, out of the control of any one individual, it shouldn't become an issue. Agree to disagree and do what you will. If you're going to argue about something, make it something worthwhile, and this presidential election, while critical for the country, should not become critical between spouses.

If you like Ron Paul and she likes Ralph Nader it might probably lead to differences elsewhere in the marriage. If she's voting Demon and your voting Repug then it's just opposite sides of the same coin.

I'm with racer and billb. We both tend to vote our consciences, we're not 'party above all' people (we actually have functional brains and think independently of the herds). It's been a lot of fun explaining reality to my 20 year old daughter, who had drunk much of the youthful koolaid from fringe groups so common to colleges.

I think my conversations with her have worked- she's become very articulate and insistent on facts when it comes to political discourse. I overheard her talking to one of her friends about politics, and she was saying things like 'and exactly where is your proof of that theory' a lot. It's a grand thing when your child learns to reason with her brain instead of her emotions.

It must have been much easier before women could vote.

Wife: "Who'd you vote for today honey?"
Husband: "Why isn't my dinner ready?"
