You left out the part of paying them differently for doing different work.

This is not an issue, especially when you're talking about the fact that most of these positions are high paying. This "gender gap" from a national perspective is easily explained by the fact that men and women of the same age have different levels of experience. Women generally take time off from their careers to care for children, while men continue to work.

"Thirteen of the 20 highest paid members of McCain’s Senate staff were women during the sixth-month reporting period. Eight of the 20 highest paid members of Obama’s Senate staff were women."

The headline's intent is to deliberately mislead.

All I saw was "money" "mouth" and "women". This thread isn't about what I thought it was gonna be about.

Wow, that article sure does include a lot of statistics. Weird statistics if you ask me. Did I miss the one that showed a woman and a man in equivalent positions that work for McCain, and a woman and a man in equivalent positions that work for Obama, and if they were being paid the same salary? That would be the most relevant piece of information in my opinion.

Small sample size, no comparison of positions and responsibilities, and perhaps even totally different office staff organization between the two offices makes the statistics quoted essentially meaningless as a basis of comparison. Add that Obama has been a Senator for just under 4 years, and McCain for over 20, there will be differences. I could pull out the numbers that 2 out of 3 of McCain's staffers earning over $100K were men and Obama one male and one female worker in that category and say that McCain favored men based on that, but it would not be a valid comparison either.

I could be wrong, But I'm fairly certain that The Equal Opportunity Act of 1965 and affirmitive action would apply to both candidates.
Everyone involved purposefully has thier books open to different pages for no other reason than they've all got nothing, because that's what they're all claiming in the end. Nothing.
They're both looking like complete idiots.

Can we just get back to specifically what either of them intends to change ?
(besides whatever they have to say to garner another vote ?)
