ACORN offices vandalized, workers threatened
#1
This is for those still wondering why the Obama/Biden campaign complained so loudly about the threats shouted at Palin and McCain rallies.

From the Baltimore Sun:

WASHINGTON—An ACORN community organizer received a death threat and the liberal-leaning voter registration group's Boston and Seattle offices were vandalized Thursday, reflecting mounting tensions over its role in registering 1.3 million mostly poor and minority Americans to vote next month. Attorneys for the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now were notifying the FBI and the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division of the incidents, said Brian Kettenring, a Florida-based spokesman for the group. It was disclosed Thursday that the FBI is examining whether thousands of fraudulent voter-registration applications submitted by some ACORN workers were part of a systematic effort or isolated incidents. Kettenring said that a senior ACORN staffer in Cleveland, after appearing on television this week, got an e-mail that said she "is going to have her life ended." A female staffer in Providence, R.I., got a threatening call from someone who said words to the effect of "We know you get off work at 9," then uttered racial epithets, he said.

Political signs bring threats in Villa Park

Tribune staff report
October 17, 2008

Two supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama found handwritten death threats in their mailboxes Thursday and reported them to Villa Park police.

A 74-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man with Obama signs in their front yards near the 600 block of South Villa Avenue received similar letters that had a Villa Park Village Hall return address. "Get the Obama signs off your property—now," the letter reads. "Failure to obey this order will result in the immediate death of all family members." Both residents said they will not remove their signs, though the man, who had voted Republican for 25 years before switching parties this year, said his wife is worried about letting their 7-year-old son play alone outside.

Village President Joyce Stupegia said she has not heard about any other letters.

"I'm quite troubled," she said. "It's obviously a person who's a little nutsy getting carried away. But it's unacceptable."

Angry people aren't hard to find on the net

All this non-devisive "leadership" is pathetic.

-------------------------------------

BOSTON -- Police are investigating a possible burglary at the Boston offices of the community activist group ACORN.

Chris Leonard, an official with the Boston branch of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, tells the Boston Herald several computers were stolen from the group's Dorchester office either late Wednesday or early Thursday.

According to police, the alarm had been ripped from the wall, three computers had been stolen and wires had been damaged. The report says two downstairs offices also were ransacked, two vending machines were damaged and change stolen from them.

stolen computers before a special presecuter is assigned could be construed as "convenient".

So ACORN self-reports fradulent voter registration, but they're linked to Obama, who is linked to terrorism. Also, that minorities are yucky gets thrown in there, too. Therefore, there's vandalism and death threats. Somehow, this...

...just seems to miss the point of what happens when a campaign works to build up anger, xenophobia, and racism.

If you believe that anybody but the ACORN notzoids vandalized their own offices please send
me your financial data so I can assign the bridge title to you. Next it'll be swatikas spray painted
with the "N" word... And what did the phone caller say? "Kill him"? It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes
to figure this case out. First you burn the Reichstag and then you point the finger at innocents.
I live in the South and do you know how many black churches get burned by blacks? And all the
fabricated racist graffitti? - A McCain volunteer; a middle-aged little lady, got assaulted by an
Obama supporter on 51st Street in NYC. - It's getting incendiary.

Wow! Their transparency is unbelievable. Do they actually expect anybody to take this blatant
destruction of evidence as a serious complaint? If the poor are too stupid to figure it out for
themselves, they shouldn't be voting anyway!

I imagine there is a continuum of attitudes from the nutty side of the right to the looney side of the left and at the extremes there are some individuals that behave in ways that are extremely detrimental to the rest of us. It's probably my bias but I tend to see that when the far left drifts into dogmatism and violence it seems to be like the pains of birth... a birth of more inclusion of more people in the benefits of our communities. The dogmatism and violence of the far right, though, seems to be the throes of a painful death.. marking the ending agonies of some bigotry and fear of change. The far left screams with pangs of injustice and the far right with spasms of patriotism.

Times they are a changin' perhaps more than they have in some time and so we seem to be hearing more of the spasms of the far right. Another example of it comes from Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann who said yesterday on Chris Matthew's "Hardball" program, "I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America?" This after she questioned Obama's patriotism. If the US were more like Germany in the 1930's we would probably have to be concerned with this being the rising crest of a wave of fascism (well, perhaps without the socialistic part). But I think it is only the throes of a dying mentality. May it soon RIP.

If that is true then I am sure you will have no problem showing a study that backs it up.
