Good move by Obama. I'm liking most of his choices so far.

Makes the troops happy. Nothing worse than changing generals in mid battle. You're almost 100% guaranteed to get screwed.

Yep, our President Elect has all the moves. Damn, I hope he delivers. We're betting a lot on the hand he holds.

He holds one really shitty hand, but at least he's smart. I'd not have a clue about what to do with it. He's not afraid to go into the arena and seems intent on surrounding himself with the best and brightest, that alone is a refreshing change.

Hope he can find a way to pull this off.

I don't think he's enlisted. I was enlisted and I didn't get those kind of perks.

You didn't hold out long enough to get to carrot they would offer you today.

Waitaminnit! I thought Obama was packing his cabinet with Clinton retreads. Can't the man be consistent? Yet another Obama failure. Worst . . . President . . . ever!!

I can't help but think that keeping Gates is perfect scapegoat for anything that goes wrong. Iraq starts going downhill, he gets dumped. The Joint Chiefs of Staff complain too much about don't ask don't tell being phased out, he gets dumped. My guess is he does not last past Feb. 2010 even if nothing goes wrong.
