Looking for general use gloves (not mittens, even though I know they keep your hands warmer), for use on long walks, etc. Best combo of warm/affordable.
Winter gloves recommendations?

They have had some decent gloves at Costco the last couple times I have been there, around $15 for the pair I think...

How do you feel about the rugged, casual look? Lately I've started buying my winter gloves at Ace Hardware, those deerskin gloves. They're work gloves, but the leather feels so good, I wear them as driving gloves when the weather is too cold (or too hot, and my stick shift is thermonuclear) Deer skin feels really good, they're great all-weather gloves. And they're not bulky, the kind I like don't have padded inner lining. Light, durable, flexible. They aren't recommended for truly freezing weather, but are good in all other kinds of conditions.

I have deerskin work gloves, too. Very good tactile properties along w/protection, but when it gets cold enough, unlined leather gloves will turn your hands numb & blue...

the deerskin for just kinda chilly, and check out snowboarder gloves [on sale, of course] for when it's really freakin' cold out. stumbled upon 'em a few years ago, and they have worked out better than ever imagined, got 'em for wife and kid, too, though kid has probably outgrown his, so will likely have to re-up for the holidays...
