Costco has it too:

I remembered it being $550 for the bundle but now when you add it to the cart, it is $499. Comes with additional 2GB memory card.

Is the D40 a good camera?

It is a good ca,era but for just a bit extra you can get more modern features in cams such as the D40x, d60 and Canon XTI, XSI.

They have algorithms that detect faces and tries to focus on that of you have a particular mode activated. I was thinking of more useful features that the D60 sports such as the anti-dust mechanism on the sensor.

Thanks pRICE.

I do know of most of the features but I am still in manual focus film land. Some non-metered...

I keep saying one of these days but never quite spring for one for myself, I have given several digital cameras as gifts.

This D40 deal is a good value so I am glad it was posted. It costs you about $200 less than the idea I am about to post.

The route I would prefer for myself, and it may not be right for others, is to get a body and a lens such as the 18-200mm OS Sigma. You end up changing lenses a whole lot less.

Canon XT 8mp refurb $299 http://www.adorama.com/Search-Results.tp...rchresults&searchinfo=canon%20xt%20refurb

Canon XTI 10mp anti dust refurb for $339 http://www.adorama.com/ICADRXTIBR.html?s...i%20refurb&item_no=9

Sigma 18-200 with optical stabilizer $369 http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SG18200SEOS
