weld around frame broke ...and I need an exam too.

I currently have progressive lenses and have never really liked them.

I found a pair of contacts to put in and have to use reading glasses with them.

I think I read here in a similar thread that Costco was the lowest overall price on exams & frames. Can't speak for the quality.

Seach google for some of the online sites.. you can get progressive bifocals with titanium frames for around $70.

It sounds strange to get glasses online but the only difference is your mailing in your prescription instead of the Walmart monkey.

I just got my eyes checked and left with an updated prescription. I intend to get a set of Ray Bans with perscr. lenses on the internet as soon as I can find a reputable place.

Local B&M place quoted me $3-400 for same. Ugh.

Check with For Eyes. They have good service, good prices, online coupons (as well as sometimes in the Sunday paper), and may give you a discount with your health insurance.

That last place has an option for "Prescription Strength" on the bottom where you can add extra strength to your prescription. What does that mean, anyone?

Extra strength means the prescription is greater than Spherical -8.00 , or +6.00, and /or Cylindrical greater than -2.00, or +2.00.

When Any of the Spherical or Cylindrical values on your single vision eyeglass order has an X next to it it is Extra Strength, has to go to the Custom lab for special processing, costs $9.00 extra (sorry), and can take about five days longer to deliver.
