Safari font in Leopard vs. XP

For some reason IE looks much better in XP. Safari has this thin font that I haven't been able to change. I can change its size but that is not the problem. Like to have more solid, formed fonts.

Safari>Preferences>Appearance shows the fonts currently chosen. Clicking the Select button next to the font name give a window with all the fonts available. Select the one you want.
