Would you put an SSD in your MBP or it'd be a waste of $$$ ...

and a dumb idea because an SSD shouldn't be used with a laptop with an internal fan?

I'd use an SSD for the amazingly increased speed. The better battery life and decreased heat are just side benefits.

What's the fan got to do with anything?

Says who?

And why would having a fan in your computer exclude the use of a SSD?

If you've got the cash to throw at you MBP; go for it. Some MBP models are shipping with SSDs right now.

The SSD in my Mini 9 can get pretty toasty under situations like an OS installation.

Can't see why a fan wouldn't be great for thermal protection.

Didn't somebody say there wasn't much speed difference. In fact, SSD could be slower?

Waste of money since there is at least one 500GB, 7200RPM 2.5" SATA drive out there @$150.

Sure, if I had enough money to afford $1500 for a 500gb SSD.
