Geeze, why do we need all these short weeks? will the closed day be July 3 or the next Monday. Might as well have 4 day work weeks because there is a long weekend about everyother week it seems. Especially the PO.
Not another long weekend coming up?

Where I work we get 7 paid holidays every year. If the holiday lands on a weekend we do not get any time off. The new owner did offer to let us off on the 3rd if we hit a certain goal in the month of June though. It is quite a stretch, we probably won't make it, but at least there is a possibility. So for me there doesn't seem to be alot of 3 day weekends during the year. :-)

My office is closed on Fridays for the summer, so no extra day off - but since it is a paid holiday by our employee handbook, I am going to submit to be paid.

I have a friend that was given every other Friday off without pay because of the California budget crisis, does that count?

We've shut down this week (already off on Friday) due to the economy. A few 'lucky' fools (like me) have to work Tue/Wed/Thu. But the big one is gonna be at the end of the year, where if things don't improve, we'll be shut down from the middle of November through the first week of January.
To me, that's better than laying more people off. I'm actually looking forward to the sabbatical. I should qualify for unemployment. Plus, I might work some low key job for the hell of it. But most likely I'll travel around, staying with friends/relatives most of that time. Should be a lot of fun...

That's the first time I've heard someone complain about having a 3-day weekend!
