would you get AppleCare ext. warranty for your iPhone?
#1
had a hard sell from ATT store on applecare
i walked away without phone because of the pushiness.

with the 1 yr warranty on iphone why go and pay for 2 years
at the beginning of owenership?

a) would you buy it at all?
b) would you consider it after 11 months?

c) they and I bargained and the deal was for 2 Applecares
plus 4 car chargers (4 phone in the family plan, 2 of them iphones)
plus waive $70 in activation fees (iphone $35 each) for
$140

would you take this 'deal'?

A friend just got an iPhone last weekend, and the salesperson lied about the applecare coverage to make the sale. Said it covered loss and breakage. He told me about this at the bar Thursday, and now he is furious.

I've said 'No' twice

and that's been the right decision so far

While the iPhone is the first phone I've ever had that I'd keep for more than two years, Apple has made "every other" iPhone version desirable enough for me to upgrade at two year intervals.

My feeling is that if it lasts one year, it will *probably* make it until the end of the second. At that time I'll probably want the 'Phone that launches around then.

Doesn't AppleCare only add one year of coverage? If it was two years extra, as with Macs, I'd seriously consider it.

I'd think about it after month 11 if the phone hadn't gotten liquid damaged or have some other physical sign of a drop that would void Applecare.

I would definitely get it, my phone broke right before a year and no questions asked and it was replaced I didn't need the extra coverage but what if it would have been a month later. I don't always get it on my computer and never needed on a computer. The iphone is carried around all the time, no it won't cover drops but my buttons wouldn't work so I couldn't even use my iPhone. Battery starts draining fast they will replace in most cases, there usually pretty good about replacing.

I'd just purchase with a credit card that offers extended warranty protection like AMEX. That gets you an extra year, which should be sufficient to last out the plan.

Interesting point, that... iPhone comes with a 2 year plan so why would you want an extended warranty that lasts for (original manufacturer's 1 year + 2 years warranty extension?) I suppose that would give whoever you sell the iPhone to peace of mind.

The main reason I buy applecare on anything is, if there's a problem, you go to the head of the line to get taken care of.

i bought it, but only because I had a pocket full of cash from a poker game the night before.
