This type of PORK & misappropriation of stimulus $$$ pisses me off

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...02128.html

"It was among the first in the country to win funding from this year's stimulus package: $800,000 to repave a backup runway. "

from his site, murtha.org:

"Today, our nation faces many challenges. Here at home, we must promote economic growth, strengthen America's infrastructure, improve access to health care, protect Social Security, and bring fiscal sanity back to the federal budget."

BTW, if you read the article, that airport is like a ghost town, with an average of 20 people going thru per day.

politicians like Murtha make me want to puke. people are losing their homes, but all that money, OUR MONEY, goes into a pet project that benefits very, very few people.

Very porky sounding--reminds me of Ted Stevens. Congressional and senatorial term-limits, anyone?

sick of Democrats AND Republicans taking OUR money and giving it to those who clearly don't need it.

same with Wall Street... big bonuses again, how's the economy doing? How's the bailout?

Murtha is just a gross example of what unfortunately happens all the time with politicians from both parties. In California, Darrell Steinberg recently tried to sneak a $10 million dollar earmark for a cultural tolerance center into the water bond bill. He probably figured that nobody would notice, but it was discovered, and he was called on it by both Democrats and Republicans. The really funny thing is that if he had simply sponsored a separate bill for his pet project, it likely would have passed in California.

Another airport with no passengers or traffic.

If you're a politician sending money to this boondoggle it's a hopping place. and they find statistics to back that up.
If you work there - well it's a great place to get some sleep.

If you build it, they will come.
Or maybe not.

But the same politicians don't call themselves on passing a toothless water bill.

We had this debate when Republicans were saying this or that is not really stimulus it is just capital spending. When pressed, Obama finally admitted that any spending is stimulus. Talk to him.

i'm pretty sure Obama has nothing to do with what Murtha has done for the past decade, Dakota.

Dakota only calls fouls in one direction, he doesn't understand or seem to care that it's a two way street and he's a part of the pavement.
