According to the article, the TV manufacturers are saying it's no BFD. They'll just be more energy efficient in a couple of years.

None. The regulation doesn't take affect until 1 Jan 2011. Buy whatever you want until then.

A healthier choice might be to mandate all seats in front of a display be an exercise bike with a generator attached. 1/2 generated power to display, 1/2 generated power back to grid.
helps with a certain health problem here in the States, too.

False subject line. All that's happened is that they've released energy standards for TVs (just like fridges, air conditioners, etc). By the time they take effect all of the TVs will be LED illuminated LCDs anyway. This is a non-issue. Nothing to see here, move along folks.

They oughta ban a lot of the TV PROGRAMMES, if you axe me.
