A rare example of Twitter being useful

People are crowd sourcing the search for Maurice Clemmons in Seattle using Twitter. KOMO TV has a Police Scanner set up on their website too. It is like an 'Amber Alert' for nerds. If that guy hasn't already left the state he doesn't stand a chance, and he better hope that the cops find him first because I can see some serious 'angry mob' sentiment mounting in Seattle.

There is also a Google Wave set up, but I haven't had any luck figuring out how to use Google Wave yet.

So the reports that he was shot and possibly dead were wrong? I'm following it on a real hit-and-miss basis.

I wouldn't be surprised if they find him dead in an alley somewhere.

The latest that I've heard is that he was likely shot in the gut. They're chasing down blood stains, buses, anything that the guy might have touched. Currently cops are looking for a green 1997 Mazda Millenia, WA license 208SSX, registered to Clemmons' wife.

Maurice Clemmons has a Twitter page?!?

I thought that it was fake at first, but there are a few tweets from several months ago. Nothing useful or interesting but the time stamps would indicate that they've been around for a while.

OK, I figured out Google Wave a bit.

Search for: with:public #washooting

This should return two waves from the Seattle Times that include maps, links, phone numbers, all kinds of nifty info.

Twitter is over capacity.

Too many tweets! Please wait a moment and try again.
