this pisses me off. the large is 14", and the new XLP is 16"

It is nothing new to the people who know me that I was the driver/trainer and late night delivery God in Seattle in the late '80s They either scheduled me or two other people for closing shifts. (it was hard to be late when you were driving a Buick GSX. Climbing hills with over 500 lb/ft of torque was SO much fun.....especially when I wasn't paying for the gas)

The large WAS 16". The cheap corporate bastards shaved it down to 15" then, 14" and now have brought it back as as essentially an "extra large"

There are numerous local independent shops that have a 17"-18 "family"pizza in the $12 range that is damn good pizza. After eating as much free mediocre pizza as I and my friends could choke down for 6 years, this is pretty pathetic.

The bottom line is square inches vs dollars. (quality is not withstanding). All they did was roll things back a decade+. But if you do the math, a monster 18" at a local shop for $12 is a far better deal...... an 18" is 20% more pizza than a 16".

FYI, 15+ years later, people still ask me if I used to deliver pizza, because the recognize the Chevelle with the funny hood.....

Wrap your lips around my big sausage...pizza.

I got in trouble for changing the readerboard at work to "They can't beat us, so why not eat us" in retaliation, I changed it to "Wrap your lips around a thick 12" Hawaiian tonight"

I totalyl agree, I owned a Dominos until summer of 1993. we hand tossed pizzas, 12" small and 16" large, then the area stores went to 15" large, I stuck to 16".

I finally got fed up and sold out when pizza hut started delivering and corp stores that surrounded me started doing stupid stuff, like selling Subs, wings, smaller pizzas, let's be like Pizza Hut and sell a 12" medium and a 14" large. My advertising money, 6% was being wasted and there was nothing I could do about it.

Me and a few franchisees wanted to stick to what we did best, deliver pizza. 12" small, and let's go to 18" large.

We wanted to do a "you call that a large?" ad campaign.

Things were going downhill and I finally sold the store. Great move as I look back

Call me crazy but Dominoe's makes halfway decent wings for the price and convenience. Are they GREAT!? No. Are they DELICIOUS?! No. But they're "decent" if you have a craving.

I was at Mystic Seaport, CT a while back. The "Mystic Pizza" was totally over-rated. I rank it very close to Dominoes quality. The pizza was in a glass, rotating, enclosure with heat lamps. It looked like one of those movie theatre hot dog machines. I was shocked.

Dominoes is "fast-food" pizza... ugh. same w/Pizza Hut.
i used to deliver PH; we had to help oil pans when we weren't on runs. two pumps in a small pan, three in a large. OIL, under pizza... Sad

gimme old-school hand-tossed from a local, independent pizzeria. or even Sicilian pizza, mmmm thick & chewy!
