Using AT&T's site: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-s...sku3790236&_requestid=179148

$30 for the data plan, 450 minutes a month plan is $40, no texting=$70 plus taxes I guess, plus the cost of the phone.

Are you over 55yrs and a member of AARP? If so you can get 15% discount (don't think this applies to the data portion). Not a lot but every little helps. Just call AARP and ask for their AT&T FAN number.

There's also a 20% education discount.

I'd love to have one but sorry I'm not paying $70+ for one line, there's 4 of use on our cell
account for $120/month, 700 minutes, unlimited Text, data blocked. I get a 20% corp.
discount through Verizon. We never use all our minutes.

Does anyone know what the cheapest AT&T plan is after taxes and fees? In other words, what is the bottom line total per month for the cheapest plan?

Or does it vary from state to state?

I'm in Pennsylvania.

I'm leaning toward unlocking and going with T-Mobile (I have a first gen. iPhone).

I have an iPhone that I use I use with AT&T gophone (i have an unlocked phone). I'm on a pay as you go account (25c per minute) and $20 for 100 MB dataplan. I don't think this is officially okay with AT&T but they know I have an iPhone and they haven't tried to make me switch to a postpaid plan with regular data plan.

since everything is charged per use, my monthly bill changes but I'm typically under $10/month.

I bought an iphone 3g on ebay for around $300.

Its the data part that kills you.

4 lines = $30 x 4 for the data plan -- ATT gets you for the texting part too, schysters.

FWIW, if i do a 2 line verizon plan, with a droid and an eris -- 1400 minutes + 5000 messages + email/web + visual voice mail = $195 a month for both lines...

personally, i would never use that many texts, so i could knock that down to 1500, but it still leaves me at $185
