Screw the cost. - RAMd®d - 05-03-2011

It's two wheels.

My worst day on two wheels is better than my best day on four.

I'm getting an ST1300, but only because I have no room for a 'Wing.

The 'Wing is great handling bike and with some additional work (bearings in the steering stem and swing arm (and money!), it's an amazing handling bike.

I am not a Chrome Guy, so what the factory provides it plenty. I've seen some of the stock aluminum part chromed-- not bad. But that's about it.

That GL has a fair amount of chrome, but that's NOT a lot of chrome. I've seen 'Wings with a lot more.

Then you've never _really_ had a bad day on two wheels....

This is what I'd get if I had the room... - RAMd®d - 05-03-2011

Maybe not with the airbag.

This is a 2003 Model. I didn't put that in my initial post.

No way I could afford $20,000 for a motorcycle.

I traded my 2004 ST1300 on it. The dealership gave me $7000 trade in value. So I only had to pony up another $5,500.

That's still a lot of money when you have kids in braces and soon to be going to college.

But I never buy brand new. I just hope people DO keep buying brand new because I like to be able to buy clean used when they trade in.

I did think about buying the GL1500 and I took one for a test ride but I wasn't sold on it. Maybe it was that particular bike.

I took the GL1800 for a ride and that was that. Drove it home!

It has got a lot of power. It should having 1.8L engine. About as big as some economy cars.

Holy chit is right!! Does that seat recline? (Big Grin

Seriously, I'm glad you got it. So much better for the long hauls.

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading myself. I really like the newer Road Kings (HD for those that don't already know) and have been watching a few excellent deals pass by on Craig's List. Seems to be a lot of wanabes that bought a few years ago and are already tired of riding. How the HELL can a 7 year old bike only have a few thousand miles on it? To me, that seems unpossible!! :dunno:

Easy. I bought mine new and have 7000 after 5 years. I only ride it over the summer and put 1500 miles or so on it.

...that's a lot of chrome.

When I saw it, I thought of a fifties Buick. :-)

I know nothing about motorcycles but it does look like a very nice machine.

You're a brave man to mention something like motorcycles with this audience.

By the way, nice bike and fast enough in a straight line so as to not bore me in 40 minutes.
