My iPhone 4s has taken a dunk a couple of times (once in Diet Coke) and I've been lucky enough to resurrect it.

While I can't give you the best option, I do recommend getting a Lifeproof case this time around. Saves a lot of heartache.

I would for sure go the $149 route, that way, if you want to upgrade to the 5s, when it comes out shortly, you can sell the 'new' 4 for about what you paid for it, or you can keep it, if you don't want the new one.

I did this 2 months ago when my iPhone 4S took a swim with me in the Gulf of Mexico. The rice bath just pushed the screen out and further messed it up. No questions asked, just a clean swap at the Apple Store (though mine was $199). I'm still eligible for an upgrade to the 5S when it comes out in the Fall. Besides the $200, the worst part was that my drowned phone was jailbroken and I'm not able to JB the new one.
