Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - sekker - 12-08-2014 I think Apple is still selling a lot of this model. It's a great machine. Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - spacescape - 12-08-2014 I am really wondering when we will get a iPad / Laptop cross over like the surface? Or an iPad Air with touch screen… I'm really wondering if there is a market but the Surface 3 is actually pretty slick. (Don't yell at me). Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - mrlynn - 12-08-2014 I have the 2010 model (Core2Duo) of that 13" MBP. I've been assuming for a couple of years that Apple would discontinue this computer, and am surprised that they have not. Considering that it's their last upgradable laptop, I am pleasantly surprised. If you want one, I'd say: Get 'em while they still exist. /Mr Lynn Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - Filliam H. Muffman - 12-08-2014 GGD wrote: No USB 3.0? Meh. It is easy money if people are buying them and they can still get all the parts to build them. Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - mrlynn - 12-08-2014 Filliam H. It has USB 3.0, just like all of the other Apple Laptops, so it's not a feature unique to that model. Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - sekker - 12-08-2014 I would love to see someone combine two modern SSDs in a RAID setup in one of these machines and see if they are faster than a MBPR model. Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - silvarios - 12-08-2014 Seems like it would make a great $799 entry level system. Re: Why is Apple still selling MacBook Pro 13 with Disc Drive 2012? - Ombligo - 12-08-2014 So that they can stop selling it a week before I am ready to buy a new MBP. Because I want/need an optical drive and ethernet (and Spacescape is right - my wife's iPad is starting to stutter and I'm seriously considering a Surface for her. They are really slick) |
