After 14 and a half years with two non-smart phones, which I think cost less than $150 total, there is a new iPhone 6 in da house.

Goodbye....

if so, car charger.

One of the shrinking number of things that I like about living in NYC is that I don't have to own a car. Now that's my idea of a ravenous beast!

I was prepared to upgrade right after Sandy, when the disadvantages of having a 10-year-old phone with about 20 minutes of life per charge became horribly apparent. But when I looked at the available plans, I just couldn't do it. I had a barebones 300-minute plan that cost $38-40 a month total. The cheapest smartphone plan was $80 + taxes and fees, so around $90. Money was tighter at that point, and an additional $50 a month was not trivial.

yes, smartphones are ravenous beasts. it's important to always have a way to top them off. that was the biggest adjustment for me when i moved up. all vehicles have a charger, multiple charging locations in the house, and a small, pocket-sized battery back-up. I just carry a spare battery in my wallet (haven't needed it in a long time though-- since using these: http://www.ravpower.com/ravpower-rc-eb-l1g6llu-cell-phone-battery.html )

A v3 Razr is still good to go on one charge for about three days on standby, one day if used constantly.

Luddites Forever!!!.....

Welcome to the club! I only got my 5s (first smartie ever) last year.
My brothers kept calling me Walter White on my "burner" phone...

Must be some kind of harmonic convergence, I'm not part of the 9% any more either...

Put some ebooks on that baby and enjoy.

The best gift I've ever given my older sister was an iPhone.

I actually prefer my iPad Mini for books, and will clear out most of the photos on the Mini ro make room for more books. The iPhone has a better camera, and it also has some room for music, which my iPad really doesn't, so I will get some music on it and keep more photos on the Phone. Mini is down to 4GB of free space, out of 32.

I just set up my Tile, finally. It's been sitting around since December. Now it's attached to my keys.

I'm finding the health app fun so far. But I question whether it calculates distance walked correctly. Do they assume an average value for a step? I don't think I did 4+ miles yesterday.
