Re: Another School Shooting - At an Elementary School - testcase - 04-11-2017 What I'm saying Speedy, is that there are readily available weapon alternatives to firearms that are actually MUCH worse. Law Enforcement personnel are trained and equipped to deal with armed felons. Change the weapon to something like a firebomb and I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the results. 50+ years ago as a preteen, I had the formula for Trinitrotoluene (TNT). The internet makes creating weapons so much easier now. But you keep living in your dream world of unicorns and rainbows. Formulas/processes for explosives, taught you how to make moonshine properly. Endless stuff. It was up to US to use the info wisely. Re: Another School Shooting - At an Elementary School - mattkime - 04-11-2017 In that case I'm glad the aggressor chose the safer of his options. testcase wrote: Re: Another School Shooting - At an Elementary School - DP - 04-11-2017 Of course, we're now finding out about the shooters past and there is no way he should have been in possession of firearms. He had also had PPO's against him from other women in his past and his latest left him after a month. So that usual question comes up: How was it that people knew he was a dangerous nut case yet nothing was done? The signs were all there and very obvious... Re: Another School Shooting - At an Elementary School - rjmacs - 04-11-2017 Gun rights defenders rarely do anything in their lives to stop domestic violence, other than recommend more guns. Re: Another School Shooting - At an Elementary School - $tevie - 04-11-2017 My friend's daughter was murdered by a classmate who had obtained a gun during the burglary of someone else's home. He broke in, shot her and her mother and then himself. He and the daughter died. I doubt many burglars come across the ingredients for TNT or a firebomb while ransacking a house. And the thing about guns is, once you have one it is extremely easy to act on impulse and take a life. The irony is that I'll bet the burglary victim had the gun for "protection". Instead his weapon destroyed the life of my friend and took the life of her daughter. I agree completely, guns make it easy to act on the worst impulses. that's why people who advocate for safety are pushing gun responsibility and not gun control now. a lot of gun owners, including NRA members, are on board with that message and they get it. guns need to be kept away from dangerous people and we do a bad job at that now. we could tighten our laws and not infringe on the rights of responsible, lawful gun owners, and many many lives would be saved. |
