Profit making enterprises should not be closely involved in the care or labor of people incarcerated by the government. It's good that they're out there doing it and they really want to. They have to qualify to even be in a position to volunteer. One, it also allows them to expunge their records so that they can become firefighters once they're out of prison. 2. They get treated well as firefighters. A friend I grew up with (who has spent the majority of his life in prison, including part of his childhood). He can't ever volunteer because he keeps getting busted using cell phones.
