Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - RecipeForDisaster - 04-23-2008 I went to Wireless Security under Internet Connect and chose none rather than WPA2... couldn't get onto the network with the Mini that way! I went back to WPA and it accepted my password on the Mini(phew, I can imagine losing connection completely). Did I do that correctly? Thanks, Skye Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - RecipeForDisaster - 04-23-2008 Yep, with security set to 'none' I get the error 'there was an error joining _name of network_ network'. What is up with that? Skye Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - Black Landlord - 04-23-2008 Nathan says the original AP card can do WPA but not WPA2: http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/478661/478859#msg-478859 You have your mini configured to connect a certain way- if you make changes you'll have to change the mini's settings too. I think rGg's your best bet as I have never had an AE and don't know the interface. Re: iBook-thanks! What is up with that? Skye Need more specific info-- are you referring to the mini or to the iBook now? Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - RecipeForDisaster - 04-23-2008 Sorry, I mean the Mini can't seem to connect with security set to 'none'. Skye Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - Black Landlord - 04-23-2008 But was the iBook able to connect with security set to "none"? Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - RecipeForDisaster - 04-23-2008 Nope, just tried it with the iBook... no dice. But, the Mini is back on WPA in order to get online at all-haven't tried with both on none because then the Mini's offline. Skye Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - Ken Sp. - 04-23-2008 Sorry---didn't read the whole thread---but shoot me if it has been said. On those older Airport Cards and those iBooks sometimes you had to enter the $ sign before the first character in the WEP encryption for the internal Airport card. Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - StingMe - 04-24-2008 Details RFD, details! ![]() What model iBook? What OS version? All of my iBooks (Early 2004 G4s with Airport Extreme) had no problems connecting to a WPA2 wireless 802.11g network once the OS was updated to at least 10.3.9 Re: iBook-thanks! Need Airport help, though - Black Landlord - 04-24-2008 G3/900, 10.4.x (fresh install), original airport card. |
