Not hardly. Panasonic's current plasma NeoPDP-based sets are mid-range in energy consumption relative to LCD-based sets. Panasonic claims further significant energy consumption improvements in next year's models.

It bugs me how they pick and choose what things are environmentally friendly, and which are not. Somehow I think more energy is wasted from bad traffic in CA than from the 24% of TVs that don't meet their standards.

Making traffic better would also greatly boost the economy, while requiring TVs to use less energy does not.
