I've known a few tough outdoor cats--none of them ever brought in a squirrel. Chipmunks, rabbits, birds, mice, snakes, yup--but no squirrels.

These guys catch squirrels all the time in my back yard. However, they miss more than they hit.

Sorry for the poor image quality. This was video from my camcorder, the only thing I had at the time with a decent zoom. The squirrel won this particular race.

Any cat w/enough instinct in them takes the squirrel.
I had a cat who was the Scourge of Squirrel, she caught & ate them up like they were going out of style, even though she never missed a regular twice per day feeding at home. She was slim and not large in stature, but a hunter par excellence; even in old age when stealth & pure skilled technique made up for less speed.
And she never left much in the way of leftovers, ever.

She was a beautiful & admirable animal; the wild streak in her made me respect her even more.

At the end, you were still talking about your cat, right? Smile

My youngest son's Chihauhua, "Izzy" is a stocky little girl with legs that are shorter then her body is wide. And yet, for some odd reason, she caught and killed two squirrels in our fenced in back yard this summer. We still don't understand how she did it... pretty much all the other dogs seem to be faster than she is, especially the long legged Rat Terrier who wins the 'dog chase' games every single time.

And she NEVER catches the 20 toed cat that lives in our house.

We once had a cat that was fearless.
Rode a german shepard out of the yard.
No small animals except birds.

Lost a fight with a racoon. (vet agreed it must have been a racoon) , found her in the garage on the cool concrete with her belly beside her. Cost a grand to put it all back in.

Our tenacious fighter of a terrier mutt (now an elder) lost the battle over a bowl of cat food against two racoons. Brother found the mutt yelping in pain with a bloody back leg.

Cats kill and eat squirrels all the time...just think about all those 'furballs' that they cough up...it aint all cat hair.
