We live in a collective society and collectively, we have not demonstrated a nationwide responsibility regarding the humane management of unwanted and uncared for animals. It's one of the primary concerns that I have and where I choose to expend my personal energy. Rescuing and caring for neglected and unwanted dogs and cats.

For humans, the answer is abortion. Maybe we should try that with pets? Not sure how you can abort a goldfish though.
Microscopic surgeons.

Except for the obvious, everyone has a different definition of maltreatment. For instance, a friend thinks it's cruel that another friend has her dogs outside even tho' there is more than adequate supplies of water, food/tread and shelter (dog houses) left outside. They are never chained/tied up in the yard. They have access to interior of the house. They have regular vet care. And never ever without attention and exercise. One of them prefers to be outside most of the time because he's an Eskimo/Husky mutt. He's always hot!

Yeah, one of the women who was supporting this in some other city has dropped her support after she learned that the author of these ballot measures is anti-semititic.

His cartoons...

The drinking water tumbles out of the High Sierra's Yosemite Hetch Hetchy reservoir and is delivered "unfiltered" to residents all along the peninsula including San Francisco. "Nearly" pure snowmelt.

Why would they do this?

Because they're not normal folk there.
Really.

I can't go along with the law as proposed, but I have a hard time being civil when people talk about the designer pet they are currently shopping for... I therefor remove myself from the situation as fast as possible...

It's just so obviously wrong to me, but I don't often get into the conversations since changing opposed opinions is almost impossible...

Lots of bills get proposed in various city councils.

Few of them are passed.

News media with an axe to grind often neglect to mention this.
