Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - lazydays - 09-28-2012 I ran one movie through it last night as was pleased with the quality and the size of the resulting file. I did select subtitles as the movie had some german and it appeared to make hard subtitles. Unfortunately there were two "english" subtitle options and selecting the first one put subtitles in for all text. I'm running it through a second time with the second "english" subtitle option to see what it does. Overall I'm pleased. If I can just nail down the subtitle issue I think it will be a good program to use. Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - Grateful11 - 09-28-2012 Well after almost 3 1/2 hours of converting I ended up a 980Mb file for "Moon" on Blu-Ray. I loaded just now on iTunes and checked it out on the AppleTV and it had black bars on all four sides yet it said it was going to 1920x1080. I didn't take much time at all to get into the settings so I'll have to play with the settings and see what I can come up with. Using MakeMKV and Handbrake I got a 4.7Gb file. Hard - where the subtitles become part of the video and can't be turned off. There's where I'm having trouble. Movies that are suppose to have subtitles automatically, for small foreign language speaking parts during the movie, aren't showing up. I would have thought that just ripping with MakeMKV and converting with HandBrake they would automatically be there. What do I need to do to get them to show up? I'm assuming that would be Hard subtitles. Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - lazydays - 09-28-2012 Using the second english subtitle worked perfectly and I have nice hard subtitles for my movie. I really like this app so far. Picture quality looks good. File size is right. Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - Grateful11 - 09-28-2012 What movie and what size did you end up with? What setting did you check to make sure you had the hard subtitles? Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - lazydays - 09-28-2012 I used the X men first class blue ray. It has lots of German so it was a good test. I used the appletv preset and my resulting file was 4.7gb which is comparable to most blue ray downloads I have seen. There is a subtitle drop down menu. It showed several languages including English twice. The first produced subtitles through the entire movie. The second produced subtitles only when they were speaking German. Quality looks excellent on my screen. I think it took around three hours to convert using my 2.5ghz 2011 iMac. Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - Grateful11 - 09-28-2012 Thanks. Were you able to determine which English subtitle to choose by checking the Preview window? Re: RYF: Free Today Only, Aiseesoft Blu-Ray to MP4 Ripper - Mac1337 - 08-01-2013 To rip blu-ray and DVD on Mac, Aunsoft Blu-ray Ripper and iMedia Converter for Mac are good choices. Both of them can convert blu-ray/DVD files and discs. They have trial version which is totally free. |
