Yes, correct the D3s does have onboard video but the D600-610 and the D7100 will outperform the D3s in the video department, for sure.
D800..not sure about the video performance there as it compares to the D3s or the d600..7100..Maybe Price-Cube will have some input there.

You can find a used D700 in great shape and low shutter count for about $1000.
Now THAT is value!

For the price of a D700 or D3, you could get a used D3200, 3300 or D7100 for video mode. Won't be full frame video but how serious of video do you plan to shoot?
D800 video pretty much gets you ability to do more shallow depth of field over the DX cameras. Still can get shallow DOF with DX but some people like that extra bit.
It will all come down to what the shooting demands are.
I have a high priority on AF accuracy, I even switched from Canon to Nikon because of it. I then use the D800 for my non-action work. If I could get both, that would be great but I am ok with the split duties.
If I had to do it with just one camera, I would get a used D800.

Chopper asked about value and Im feeling that those two cameras are the sweet spot in value/performance right now.
I wouldn't consider a used D3 to be a great value for Chopper because he wants Video and the regular D3 doesn't have video. the D3-S does..Im oretty sure this is correct.
I think one of the reasons he asked about full frame such as D800 is the ability to use his older full frame lenses to their full capacity without the crop factor.
Otherwise, D7100 is a darn good camera. I will be replacing my D7000 with a 7100 in a few months.
I was thinking of replacing a D7000 too. But shouldn't it about time for a D7200?
Yes, then the D7100 will have dropped in price.
