Re: Apple TV clearly a complete failure - MacArtist - 02-04-2009 Forrest, Thanks for the links to Boxee. I have heard about it on the forum before but never investigated it. It looks sweet. I am a hulu addict. Watched a video to create a patchstick. Easy peasy. Thanks again. Re: Apple TV clearly a complete failure - davester - 02-04-2009 I think it's horribly unfortunate that the apple TV has to be hacked using boxee etc to make it useful. Apple is really blowing it with this product. With the hacks it has been proven to be a really useful device, but they continue to sell the totally neutered version. I see why some people like it if they are iTunes customers and have a computer set up as a media center. I think it would get a lot more penetration if it had just a little more functionality. Okay, I'll bite: Which are they and what do they do? Re: Apple TV clearly a complete failure - The Grim Ninja - 02-04-2009 I have two Apple TV's, both of them stay in Xbox Media Center mode where they're useful. Okay, I'll bite: Which are they and what do they do? I know many people who use MythTV and get a ton of functionality out of it. Personally I use Windows MCE and there's tons of apps for that as well. I often use iTunes on it to rent movies. Eventually I'll get an HDTV, but upgrading my MCE to have two HD tuners will cost me $80. There's a few other devices out there, but I'm not that familiar with those.
