My kids always say "I will bring this or that to the place I am going"

Drives me crazy.

I keep saying "You will TAKE it to that place. People BRING you things."
...

maybe they view things from the opposite perspective as you do? you seem leaving your place with something, and then the TAKE it away from you. But to the place where they are going, the BRING it there.

Supposed they go to a party and they talk to the HOST and ask "what should we bring? a cake? a bottle of wine?"

Should they ask "what should we TAKE?" no. They TAKE any food (leftovers) at the end of the party, if they are offered any by the host ("would you like to TAKE some cake back home?").

just a thought. I am not saying this is correct or not, English is my second language which I learned very very late.

People speak how they want to.

You can just bring it or leave it.

I'm still trying to figure out if I take a pee or leave a pee.

Depends on how you shower. Do you take a shower?

After further review:

Bill: Can someone bring the potato salad?
Bob: Yes, I will bring the potato salad.

What's wrong with that? Somehow, Bob's reply is for the POV of Bill, I think.

"I'm still trying to figure out if I take a pee or leave a pee."
