Acorn and Co. counts for 5 points. Add 4 points for margin of error and unless Brown is up by 9 Coakley is in.

Nobody pays any attention to ACORN anymore.

She also took a quick shot at Catholicism. And when 53% of your poll-going constituency is Catholic, well. Oopsie !

Stick a fork in her, she's done.

Could be, then again she is Catholic and might get away with making the remark.

That's when they do their best work.

I haven't been paying attention to the race. How did Coakley end up as the candidate?

A new InsiderAdvantage poll conducted exclusively for POLITICO shows Republican Scott Brown surging to a 9-point advantage over Martha Coakley a day before Massachusetts voters trek to the ballot box to choose a new senator.

My guess is mostly name recognition on the primary ballot. There was a fairly short period of time to campaign for the primary from the time Ted Kennedy died and the dates for the special primary and election were set. Coakley at least had statewide name recognition from her days as Middlesex County ADA and DA, and from her recent run and win of the State Attorney General office. The other Democratic candidates in the primary did not have as much statewide recognition. Turnout for the primary was also not that heavy.

I worked in politics in a major city and I never heard of them until 2008. I think they're something like the Knights Templar.
