I've been lusting after one of those little things for just the reasons you mentioned. The lightness is a real bonus...perfect for travel. Only downside for me is the small keyboard. Re: Just ordered my first computer that doesn't have an Apple logo on it. - rgG - 06-25-2008 [quote NewtonMP2100]. . .interesting. . .curious about this. . .let us know how it goes. . .a little concerned about using Linux though. . . I am a little concerned about Linux, too, but I did play with one of these at a MicroCenter and it was pretty straight forward. I plan to keep it stock, just as it comes out of the box, except maybe upgrading from FF2 to FF3 at some point. I have heard that upgrading apps in Linux is not as easy, but I think that may just be that most people, like me, are unfamiliar with the OS. I just want it for mobile web and email, like a larger T-Mobile sidekick type device. Some have mentioned a 12" PB as an alternate, but a 12" anything would be too large. This seems to be the sweet spot between size and functionality, but I won't know that for sure till I actually get it and play with it a while. I hope that I like it, otherwise I will probably be eating a lot of crow for buying a non-Mac product. |
