i heard a radio report the other day which said he HAS to use the money he's raised. that surprised me as i always assumed candidates could bankroll any excess for future campaigns. apparently, it's use it or lose it. the republican charge that Obama is buying the election does not trouble me becuase of how the money was raised. someone like Perot or Bloomberg (if he had chosen to run) using their personal fortunes to fund a presidential run would greatly trouble me.

I have a hard time believing that is true. Congressional candidates carry over funds all the time from election to election; I did not think that the Presidential candidate is any different (but I could be wrong).

No personal use of funds

Excuse me, but don't you guys get bored with yourself? One post saying isn't Obama just great and then 225 replies saying amen. I must have missed the Kool-Aid powder that came with my last Mac purchase.

I said it before and I will say it again. I do not understand why people are so baffled by seeing other people who feel excited about what is happening and are looking forward to the future with hope. All I can figure out is that the right wing media (specifically, radio talk shows and FOX) has so indoctrinated them all to be constantly anxious and stressed out that when confronted with happiness and optimism, they don't even recognize it any longer and dismiss it as "drinking Kool-Aid".

Obama made me feel that if we work hard we can dig our way out of this terrible mess. I don't see what's wrong with getting excited about that. So far McCain hasn't put forward any solutions whatsoever.

I think that "vote for me or you will be blown up" and "vote for me or you will have your money confiscated" has worn out its welcome. People want positive reasons to vote for a president, not negatives like McCain puts out. I believe that fear has run its course as a motivator and now people want to believe that their president is interested in accomplishing something more than just keeping the bogey man away.

It was very well done. It reminded me of Ronald Reagan's ads for the 1980 and 1984 campaigns. Full of hope. Many other similarities. Has a positive vision of the future, as did Reagan.

McCain is losing this election because he has failed to express a positive vision of America's future. The Republican Party is falling apart because they have forgotten the Reagan Principles, such as small, limited government, among others.

Obama's vision is not my vision for the nation, but I hope he sticks to it. Even if he is sincere, a Congress controlled by liberal democrats may very well drag him to the far left, resulting in long term damage to many aspects of America's future.

What do you mean "drag" Obama left....HE is about as far left as it gets, all on his own.

It really is drinking Kool-aid...and a lot of absolutely nothing but Hope.

I hope this Kool-aid isn't poisoned.

As far as campaign funds, with the internet and credit cards, you don't really know if the donations are all legal. But they will check after the election...about right. But you can believe on the next one when the Repubs raise money big time this way, it will all be fixed.

I still don't know who I am going to vote for, and I just don't feel hopeful. I do not want a "false positve snake oil sales pitch.

We are going to get much bigger government with Obama, and this is from the same folks that Cannot do something as simple as deliver the damn mail. I don't have much faith in this bigger government.

I hope Congress can level Obama out quite a bit, and reign in some of his more socialist leaning BS.

Don't be fooled by the Republicans. They have consistently "reduced" the size of the federal government by contracting out what had been civil servant jobs. Sounds good until you look at the expenditures and see that taxpayers are paying more than they did before and the workers are paid less than before. Makes for smaller government, and some businesses are making money, but you've essentially hired more people to do the same work at a higher price. While the employees make less.

Brainwashing. It works.

i don't really think the government can get much bigger than Bush has already made it.

How can someone who's been making negative comment after negative comment after negative comment about Obama for the last 6-months still be undecided?
